Welcome

We’re glad you’ve found us, and amazed we are here… What started off as a project for some Jovi fans all those years ago, when Bad Name formed in 2002, seems to have taken on a life of its own. Having spent time developing an extensive stage show and set, we are now gigging and touring extensively across the country and have recently linked-up with a promoter down south which will enable us to rock a good few move venues across the border in the near future.

Let’s hope a few of them out there remember what music was about when it was exciting! Having said that, when Jon penned “Runaway” in 1982, the song that would seal the contract and bring about the formation of Jovi, none of Bad Name (bar one) had even been born!

Bon Jovi has transcended several changes in musical styles and taste throughout the past couple of decades and has evolved, survived and triumphed in a brutal marketplace, taking into account the advent of new technologies, but never compromising when it comes to good old fashioned song writing.

Where the dearth of true ability in modern music is apparent, the real quality in the crop is in evidence all the more… no surprise then that Bon Jovi and a host of other “long haul” musicians are developing a fan base with the up-and-coming generations as well as those who were lucky enough to live through a time where the music meant more than lip-synching at concerts and getting your kit off at the Superbowl!

Bad name want to capture that now-or-never spirit and bring the live music buzz to each and every audience member… whether they be hardened Jovi fanatics looking for a faithful recreation of live material or the uninitiated, who haven’t had the pleasure of seeing Bon Jovi on stage… if just one of them heads along to see the next world tour and experiences what live music should be about then we’ll have done alright (well, not great but.. ya know)… and of course, then maybe Jambco might turn a blind eye and not sue our collective ass.

Keep the Faith

Bad Name: News & Gig Dates

For the most up to date news and additional Bad Name tracks please also check our Myspace and our Bebo and our other Bebo - yes it's a long story. These are often updated more regularly than the main site and have many quite stunningly bad pictures of us!

Our Maverick’s gig which was sadly cancelled has been relocated to the Mosset Tavern in Forres – we look forward to seeing you there on Friday July the 31st for a night of peacock-rock! (That’s a local joke for local people! ;))

We are delighted to be playing for Strathspey Thistle’s Highland League inauguration fund raiser on August the 1st despite our keys player being a Forres Mechanics fan – however if they win in their first year to match the Can-Cans championship record (1 in 116 attempts) there will be much disquiet!

Almost a year after we were stranded in Orkney we are coming back up to make good our gig at the Waterfront, Wick on September the 5th - should be a fantastic night – and we will rock twice as hard to make up for us not making it in 2008.

Check us out at The Meltdown Festival, Blyth on the 30th of August!

Bookings

If you want to book Bad Name for your club, pub or private function then please mail your contact details here with the subject line “Bookings” and the keeper of the diary will call you back to discuss what you are looking for.

We can arrange anything from short bill fillers to extensive sets of a few hours. Feel free to request any personal Jovi favourites you may have, no matter how obscure (except R2-D2, We Wish You A Merry Christmas); if we can’t already play it, it’s about time we learned!

The calendar is filling up fast this year - so get in touch if you'd like to discuss possible booking dates- or just want to get an idea of the sort of shows we can put on for you.

Custom Art Work

Boundaries? Pah! Music is no boundary to us… well, the more talented members of the band anyway. Check out Gav’s Band Art Here or under the “Art” tab. Gavin is an immensely talented artist, the intricacies of his work are quite unbelievable… but don’t take my word for it, have a look for yourself.

Gav can arrange for copies of his prints to be sent to you, undertake commissioned pieces from photographs or even customise your guitar amp!! all for very reasonable amounts. Details are available in the Art section.

Comments? Queries? Indecent propositions?

We can’t hear you shouting “get off; you suck!” because clubs are noisy places, see. To redress the balance we have a great new shiny noticeboard where you can send your comments, notes of adulation and questions.

Answers to the 3 most common are (1) No (2) Honestly (3) £3.25 but you have to supply your own oil-based products and give him breakfast.

The noticeboard is here

New Tracks and fan favourites

Keeping up Bad Name’s reputation for incorporating fan favourites, requests and rarities has seen us rehearse and perform such classics as Roulette, I Want You, Stick To Your Guns, Captain Crash, Woman In Love, We Got it Goin’ On and Hallelujah. There’s a few more Surprises in store for our outdoor gigs later this summer so keep an eye out for more details.

If you have any requests or suggestions for some of your favourite Jovi tracks, or tracks Jovi have covered then drop us an e-mail – Though for the guy that follows us around venues shouting ‘Little bit of Soul’ you’ll be waiting a little while yet… You know who you are ;)

Sound Tech / Roadies

Following Grant’s ‘promotion’ to bassist the band are looking for a small bank of volunteers that would be available to do some stage-tech stuff or sound engineering for the band. Whilst we’ve been ‘borrowing’ temporary sound engineers for some of our recent gigs it’d be nice to have someone more permanent so we could be guaranteed a front of house sound we were happy with and that changes could be made quickly mid-track.

Some experience working sound desks or multitracking software would be good, but more important would be a good ear and a knowledge of Jovi’s catalogue. This would probably be an infrequent thing and include the occasional rehearsal – but hey, you also get free entry to gigs and get to look very clever, albeit it in a ‘I own all seven series of Next Gen on Blu-ray’ way- but still… y’know – better than nothing.
